  • Chris Garofalo

    Currently in his 15th year of being a General Manager and 1st year as Head Coach of Stony Brook, Chris has been a large reason why the team has become one of the most dominant non varsity college hockey programs in the country. Chris, also known as the "nuts and bolts" of the team, does all of the recruiting, scheduling, and organizing the team requires during the season. Chris has not only been a General Manager and Coach of the team he was also a player from 1992 to 1996. He ended his Stony Brook career with his selection to the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference all-star team in his senior year. Chris was born in Portland Maine and after only living there for one year moved to Long Island where he played Hockey at Farmingdale High School and for the Junior Islanders. Chris received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management from Stony Brook in May of 1996. Upon graduation Chris took a job with Computer Associates, where he worked until 2003. Currently he is National Account District Sales Manager for Automatic Data Processing (ADP).

  • Dave Piromalli
    Associate Head Coach

    Canadian born Dave Piromalli played College hockey for SUNY Plattsburgh in the late 1980's. During that time Dave was the team captain and lead Plattsburgh to win their first NCAA DIII National Championship. To date Dave still holds several scoring records at Plattsburgh and in the spring of 2009 was inducted into the Plattsburgh hall of fame. Aftergraduating with a Psychology degree he continued his hockey career by playing professionally in the Swedish Elite League for two years. This will be Dave's first year with the team and will bring a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. Dave currently is the North East National Accounts Divisional Vice President of Sales for Automatic Data Processing.

  • Colin Brumstead
    Assistant Coach

    Colin will be going into his first year as an Assistant Coach for the Seawolves. Colin played all 4 years of his college hockey career at Stony Brook and with the last two being the teams Captain. During his playing career he was known as a very tough stay at home defenseman who would always put the team first. Colin is original from Columbia, Maryland where he played for the Junior Nationals of the AJHL and for the Little Capitals of the MJHL. Today Colin resides in Stony Brook, NY and is a sales representative for Automatic Data Processing.

     

  • CHRIS FERRARO
    Assistant Coach

    Chris joins the Stony Brook coaching staff after playing over 15 years of professional hockey. Chris was born and raised in Port Jefferson, NY and played his youth hockey on Long Island. In 1992 Chris was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round and 85th overall. After being drafted Chris went to University of Maine where he won an NCAA DI National Championship in his first year. In 1994 he joined the USA Hockey Olympic team and represented the U.S. in Norway. After playing in the Olympics he began his illustrious professional hockey career. During his 15 years of playing professional hockey he played for the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals. Since Chris retired from the game both him and his brother Peter have opened a successful skating school called Ferraro Brothers Elite Hockey, where they teach power skating and hockey techniques.

  • Peter Hall
    Alumni Relations & Assistant Coach

    With his second season at Stony Brook, Pete is an Alumni of Stony Brook University and wore Seawolves Red as a player on the 1989/1990 team.. As a player, Pete was a hard hitting defenseman whose efforts were known on and off the ice. In his Senior season, Pete joined the college newspaper, The Statesman, as a journalist and photographer with the sole responsibility of covering Seawolves Hockey. Today, that tradition continues. Pete’s hockey extends to participating in countless adult hockey programs in the New York Metropolitan area. Pete was Head Coach for a Youth Travel Hockey program and he coaches the Comsewogue High School Freshman and Junior Varsity programs. Pete’s recent experience in the youth hockey programs of Long Island should bode well in Stony Brooks continued desire to bring the best players possible into our program. Pete holds a BA in Political Science & an MS in Technological Systems Management from Stony Brook University in addition to a MBA from Dowling College. In 10 years of employment at Cablevision, Pete has risen to the position of Vice President of Technical Support for High Speed Data and Voice Over IP products and services.

  • Buzz DesChamps
    Program Development & Coach

    In his second season with Stony Brook, Canadian born Buzz Deschamps was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1955 and spent a decade playing professional hockey across the United States and Canada. Buzz presence was well known on the ice with teams like the Sudbury Wolves, Indianapolis Chiefs, Long Island Ducks, Baltimore Clippers, St. Paul Rangers and the Providence Reds. Buzz holds the season team goal scoring record of 59 goals with the Long Island Ducks in the American Hockey League (AHL). He finished his strong professional hockey career with the Los Angeles Blades. Following this, Buzz chose retirement after he was drafted by the Los Angels Kings in 1968. Buzz was a scout for the Calgary Flames and the NY Rangers, and he coached the NCAA DIII St. John's University Ice Hockey team for 10 years. Buzz quickly gave back to the hockey community, coaching youth competitive hockey for over 20 years. Buzz was inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Buzz currently works with Suffolk PAL Hockey, connecting professional experience with talented athletes. Buzz and his wife Trudy reside in Bay Shore.

    Recruit Coordinator & Lead Scout for SUNY Stony Brook. Roy is an Alum and responsible for attracting skilled and accomplished talent while coordinating player visit days, recruit weekends and the application process with student athlete prospects. Being a member of American Hockey Coaches Association and USA Hockey, Roy has attained a level 5 master coaching credential. Roy previously has worked as head coach in youth hockey, assistant coach at a prep school and assistant coach/player development at an ACHA College D2 team. Coach Backman brings years of experience and is a welcome addition to the Seawolves this season. Backman hails from Bethpage - Long Island, played high school hockey with the Bethpage Eagles and graduated SUNY Stony Brook, BS Geology. After receiving an MS from Adelphi University, Roy relocated to Annapolis, Maryland where he currently resides. He is employed as an environmental consultant while coaching/ scouting hockey players and playing adult hockey.

    Recruiter / Scout
    Jon Hittle is originally from Sioux City, Iowa. He has been a player, coach and scout for more than 30 years. He has coached at the Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget, and High School levels and was both an assistant coach and scout for UMBC in Baltimore, Maryland and for the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. He holds a Masters degree from Louisiana State University, as well as a Level IV coaching certification from USA Hockey. He is a member of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Based in the midwest, he evaluates player - prospects at the high school and JR A levels throughout the Northcentral states.

  • Producer Seawolves Hockey LIVE
    Trevor Magnani

    Trevor Magnani is the Executive Producer of Seawolves Hockey Live, Stony Brook's free to view online broadcast of all Stony Brook's home games. In Trevor's pre-college days he played for many Long Island travel hockey organizations, captured numerous Long Island Championship titles, and qualified for state level tournaments. Trevor also played for Sachem High School in the Suffolk County High School Hockey League where he captured both the JV and Varsity crowns. Passionate about hockey, Trevor firmly believes that Stony Brook Hockey should be a NCAA team, which is why he brings the game to everyone, online, free, and only at StonyBrookHockey.com.
